Laughter and listening

Settle Sessions April 2017 The Folly Settle

"Settle Sessions got off to a flying start with the first event for 2017 last Friday in front of a cosy fire at The Folly, Settle. The audience which comfortably filled the room responded warmly to a variety of poems from six different readers, some local, others from further afield. The evening kicked off two readings of two poems each from poets from Middlesborough and Kendal, evoking the life of very different places. After this Veronica Caperon from Lawkland got the audience laughing and listening with poems full of warm feeling and humour."   JH Craven Herald

Great time in Eldroth!

Afternoon Tea at Eldroth Chuch February 2017 - audience comments

"What a thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining afternoon...I particularly enjoyed understanding the allusions in the poem a little bit more every time I read it through. You are so creative"

"It was amazing"

"What a very nice way to spend the Sunday afternoon"

Eldroth Church recently hosted an afternoon of "Words and Music with Tea" when local poet Veronica Caperon launched her newly published collection "Two Left Boots".  Even the heavy rain failed to dampen the delight and enthusiasm of the audience. Veronica’s poetry, drawn from her life experiences, struck chords with many and was moving, funny at times, and accessible.
The talented singer/songwriter siblings Jonathan and Charlotte rattled through so many instruments we almost lost count as we listened to their own humourous, and occasionally poignant, Yorkshire tales set to music and Beth Lowe’s voice shone in the acoustic haven that is Eldroth Church. And as for the afternoon tea – delightfully presented and totally scrumptious. All in all, a wonderful afternoon which raised over £550 for Cancer Research UK.       GP
